Virtual Community Meeting #1: Setting up the Advisory Committee for the Fund

The centerpiece of Google’s community benefits package for the Downtown West project is the Community Stabilization and Opportunity Pathways Fund, which could generate up to $154.8 million for programs in impacted communities in San José. A new Community Advisory Committee will guide funding decisions. Exhibit H of the Downtown West Development Agreement established a detailed framework for the Fund and associated Committee.

City staff is beginning to work on the ordinance to establish the Committee as a new City commission. Since Exhibit H includes most of the provisions needed for the ordinance, the focus of this effort will be on filling in the remaining details. See these staff memos for additional details.

The purpose of this Community Meeting series is to provide an update on this process and gather feedback on the remaining ordinance provisions. The first meeting will include an update on the process and an overview of Exhibit H, followed by discussions to gather feedback and ideas. The second meeting will incorporate feedback from the first meeting.

Participants were asked to register in advance to receive the Zoom link. Zoom 5.3 or later was needed in order to use all features and functions of break-out rooms. Visit this page for assistance with using Zoom for virtual public meetings: https://www.sanjoseca.gov/news-stories/watch-a-meeting.
